On Tuesday 26th March the Belgium Audi Club Team WRT invited the press to their offices in Baudour to present their programm for the year 2013. And the least we can say is that it is a very full programme!
It speaks for itself that GrafiWrap is represented on the car again this year. WRT is the champion team 2011 and 2012, and the drivers are all real professionals.  |
The championships in which the GrafiWrap cars are joining both appeal to one's imagination. Young Laurens Vanthoor, who was already supported by GrafiWrap last year, has now been added to the small circle of offical Audi pilots. This combination is an excellent opportunity for GrafiWrap to promote their Automotive and Deco series worldwide. The Belgian team aligns three Audi R8 LMS Ultra - 2013 version - in the Blancpain Endurance Series as well as in the FIA GT Series. In the new FIA GT sprint competition established by SRO, Swedish Edward Sandström will be associated with the German Frank Stippler, a second car being driven by Belgian Laurens Vanthoor and Monegasque Stéphane Ortelli. And a third car playing in Pro-Am and composed by Austrian Nikolaus Mayr-Meinhof and German René Rast will also be on the grid. The FIA GT Series will start on 30/03 - 01/04 in the traditional "Coupes de Pâques" at the French track of Nogaro. The qualifications on Saturday will already give a first indication of the power relations for the 1 hour qualification race on Sunday (at 14h15). The championship race (60 minutes) is traditionalle held on Easter Monday, and this also at 14h15. Belgian Audi Club Team WRT will enter three cars in the Blancpain Endurance Series. Once again the driver line-ups have been carefully selected, in co-operation with Audi Sport. "We have been de Drivers' and Teams' champions for two years in a row, in 2011 and 2012", confirmed team principal Vincent Vosse. "And we hope to do just as well this year". At the Blancpain Series the team has called in some of the drivers involved in the FIA GT Series. René Rast will partner Laurens Vanthoor and Stéphane Ortelli, while Edward Sandström and Frank Stippler will be joined by German driver Christopher Mies, a member of the champion trio of 2012. Another of the FIA GT Series drivers, Nikolaus Mayr-Meinhof, will team up with New-Zealander Matt Hallyday, who shone in GT1 last year, and Switzerland's Rahel Frey, who joins straight from the DTM Series. This year, the three Audis R8 LMS Ultra of the Belgian squad will be included in the Pro Cup category. Apart from this double programme, including the Total 24 Houres of Spa-Francorchamps, the Belgian Audi Club Team WRT will enter two more 24 Hour races: the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring on 19th and 20th May, and the 24 Hours of Zolder on 31st August and 1st September. In both cases WRT will focus on one single car. "It is still too early to give you the names of the pilots that will be racing there", Vincent Vosse explains, "but one thing should be clear, we are not entering to be a mere onlooker". No doubt, the Belgian Audi Club Team WRT are committed to defend Audi's nametag in the GT scene and the 2013 season promises to be busy and exciting. As usual, Grafityp are also supporting a young Belgian driver. Laurens Vanthoor has all the qualities to become a real star driver.
